School Record & Two Podium Finishes On Day 1 Of B1G Championships

Results - Day One

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Rutgers swimming & diving set a school record and placed two relay teams on the podium to kick off the 2023 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday at Canham Natatorium on the campus of the University of Michigan.

RELAYS

The 200 medley relay team broke the Rutgers record for a third time this season and landed on the podium in seventh. The team of Alice Scarabelli, Rachel Kimmel, Sofia (Lobova) Maksimova and Sofia Chichaikina dropped .70 seconds off their previous time to clock in at 1:38.25. It marked the fourth Big Ten podium finish for a Rutgers 200 medley squad and its highest finish after taking eighth in 2016, 2017 and 2022.
The 800 free relay placed eighth reaching the podium for a second-straight year. Scarabelli, Valeria Egorova, Madison Murtagh and Chichaikina came together for a time of 7:11.64.

UP NEXT

Thursday's action begins with prelims at 10 a.m. in the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 1M.
Finals get started at 5 p.m. and includes the 400 medley relay.
Both sessions will streamed on BTN +.
