RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Rutgers softball picked up another West Coast win on Wednesday night earning its fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory at Cal Baptist at John C. Funk Stadium.

The victory improved the Scarlet Knights to 16-10 overall as they head off to San Diego to close out their spring break road swing.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Mattie Boyd pitched six innings giving up just two hits, both singles, while striking out seven Lancers to improve to 9-5 on the year.
• Kyleigh Sand, LA Matthews, Katie Wingert, Leilani Chavez and Lauren Punk all collected RBIs.

THE RUNDOWN

• Rutgers got onto the scoreboard with three runs in the top of the third on two Lancer errors, two hits and a sac fly. Maddie Lawson led off the inning with a single to left while Jillian Anderson reached on an error with both advancing on a wild pitch. Kyleigh Sand's ball was bobbled at second base allowing the Scarlet Knight to reach and record an RBI as Lawson scored RU's first run. LA Matthews followed with an RBI single up the middle that brought home Anderson and Morgan Smith collected a sac fly to give Rutgers a 3-0 edge.
• The Scarlet Knights tacked on two more in the fifth. Leilani Chavez had grounded out to short in her first two plate appearances, but with the base loaded in her third at-bat the Scarlet Knight got past short to send in Morgan Smith for a score. Lauren Punk posted RU's second sac fly of the night scoring Katie Wingert to go up 5-0.

KNIGHT NOTES

• With a walk in the fifth inning, Katie Wingert became RU's all-time walks leader with 95.
