5 PM Meet is Senior Day
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving returns home to the Rutgers Aquatics Center on Friday, competing at home for the first time since October and the final full home swim meet of the season. The Scarlet Knights will commemorate Senior Day, welcoming La Salle for a 5 pm meet. It will also be the team's Letterwinners Day, with letterwinners set to be recognized during the meet.
Senior Day
Rutgers will honor eight seniors in a pregame ceremony. RU will recognize one diver (Sephora Ford) and seven swimmers (Megan Fox, Grace Hagemaster, Cam Kuriger, Katherine Lang, Jillian Ruffner, Ellie Schinsky and graduate student Angelica Bath). The senior day ceremonies will take place on the pool deck at 4:30 pm prior to the 5 pm meet.
About Rutgers
Rutgers recently completed its annual winter break training trip, traveling to Corando, California over the break earlier this month. Prior to that, the full squad last competed at the Minnesota Invitational in early December.
The meet against La Salle will be the fifth meet for the Scarlet Knights this season. The season opened with home victories over St. Bonaventure and Fordham in October, the same month where RU hosted Arkansas and Miami. RU also traveled to No. 25 Princeton in November prior to the Minnesota Invitational.
On the diving side, the Scarlet Knight divers are ranked eighth in the most recently released US PDCA Coaches Poll. Rutgers divers also competed at the Naval Academy Invite in November, with three first place finishes. Sephora Ford won the 3-Meter and Platform Diver there, with Katerina Hoffman winning the 1-Meter Dive. Ford also won the Platform Dive at the Minnesota Invitational. Bailee Sturgill and Katerina Hoffman also brought home silver medals (two for Sturgill and one for Hoffman) in synchronized events at the USA Diving Winter Nationals.
Rutgers excelled in the classroom this fall as well. The team was named a Scholar All-America team by the CSCAA and had a semester GPA of 3.398 with six 4.0 students and 12 on the Dean's List.
Top-10 Tracker
Rutgers has set 11 new marks on the program's all-time top-10 lists this season. Anna Vlachou leads the way with three. Nine of them are on the swimming side, with two new marks on the diving boards. Three of them reached the top-3 all-time, while five of them are among the four fastest.
Swimming
La Salle comes in with one win this season, having defeated Rhode Island. The Explorers have also competed against Bucknell, UMass, Villanova, James Madison, Drexel, and at the Queens Fall Frenzy. La Salle continues action over the weekend on Saturday, hosting Fordham.
La Salle brought back senior Gabriela Herbreder, who earned three medals at last year's A-10 Championships. Senior Tori Fenn also returns following a bronze medal swim at the conference meet and being a part of two relay program records.
