Lovejoy Earns USILA Scholar All-America Honors

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Senior midfielder Jamie Lovejoy (Holbrook, NY) has been named one of 37 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-Americans, the organization announced.
The award recognizes senior lacrosse players that have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and were named to one All-America team or had been chosen to participate in the North/South Classic. The players, from Division I, II, and III schools, were honored at the annual Lacrosse All-American dinner on June 10 at Cortland State University. Lovejoy graduated in May with a cumulative grade point average of 3.208 as a criminal justice major and psychology minor.
Lovejoy played in all 13 games this season for the Scarlet Knights, finishing tied for third on the team with 15 points (nine goals, six assists). He had at least one point in nine of 13 games, highlighted by a three-assist performance against Manhattan on March 10. Lovejoy also tallied multi-point games against Hobart, St. John's and Loyola. In Rutgers' season-opening 8-7 win over Delaware, Lovejoy scooped up a ground ball and scored the game-winning goal with 45 seconds left in regulation.
In last week's North/South Classic, Lovejoy recorded an assist on a goal by Jason Doneger of Princeton with 1:32 to play in the fourth quarter.
A cornerstone in RU's midfield and two-year team captain, Lovejoy finished his career as a veteran of 56 games with 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points. As a freshman in 2002, he led the team with 20 assists, which ranked fourth in the ECAC.
Rutgers' 2005 season was highlighted by an 8-5 victory over Princeton, which was the Scarlet Knights' first win over the Tigers since 1989. RU's schedule featured seven games against opponents who qualified for the NCAA Tournament, including quarterfinal participants Massachusetts and Georgetown.
