DENVER, Colo. - Rutgers head field hockey coach Liz Tchou participated in the 2007 Women Coaches Academy (WCA) and the NACWAA/HERS and Leadership Enhancement Institute weekend that featured events in both Denver and Indianapolis.
Tchou is featured on www.ncaa.org in a video discussing Title IX, as 2007 marked the 35th anniversary of the law. The video can be found along with a number of additional testimonies, highlighting the truths and misconceptions of Title IX.
Tchou's video can be seen at: http://web1.ncaa.org/web_video/TitleIX/35anniversary/TitleIX_Liz_Tchou.html.
The WCA has been in play since 2002 when it was established with the support of the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics. This summer marked the 18th year for the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.
Denver hosted the inaugural Leadership Enhancement Institute, which provided advanced educational opportunities and professional development for 24 NACWAA/HERS graduates, who were seeking more in-depth training in designated areas of athletics administration.
Tchou will enter her fifth season at the helm of the Scarlet Knight program this fall. The 2006 Scarlet Knight field hockey team finished with an overall record of 6-12, including a 1-5 mark in BIG EAST play. Rutgers, a team without a single senior on its roster, did win its first BIG EAST match in two years, a 3-2 win over Georgetown on Oct. 6.
The NCAA begins a year-long conversation on the personal impact of Title IX. These testimonies are designed to highlight the truths and misconceptions about this ground-breaking and sometimes controversial law, which celebrated its 35th anniversary on June 23.
