
Rutgers Field Hockey Earns National Academic Honor

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 25, 2010) – The Rutgers field hockey team was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) today for its academic achievement during the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year.
One of 58 institutions on the 2009 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team list, the Scarlet Knights posted a grade point average of 3.267 last term and an overall 3.247 GPA. Five of the seven field hockey programs in the BIG EAST were selected to the NFHCA academic quad.
RU had 13 field hockey student-athletes named to the 2009 BIG EAST All-Academic team. This year’s BIG EAST squad will be announced in July.
The Scarlet Knights return 14 letterwinners and four starters this fall, including all-BIG EAST performer Jenna Bull (Oakville, Ontario).
