The Rutgers men's lacrosse team continues at home to host St. John's in its BIG EAST opener on Saturday, March 17 at the Stadium Complex in Piscataway, N.J. The Scarlet Knights (4-3), led by first-year head coach Brian Brecht, enter the 3 p.m. game fresh off a victory over Marist by a score of 10-9 on March 13. St. John's defeated Stony Brook in recent action by a score of 11-9 on March 13 to improve to 3-2 overall in 2012. The contest between Rutgers and St. John's is preceded by the RU women's lacrosse team facing Monmouth at 12 p.m.

The Rutgers men's lacrosse team defeated Marist by a score of 10-9 at the Stadium Complex on March 13, winning the first home night game of the season. Head coach Brian Brecht's squad improved to 4-3 on the season thanks to standout performances from senior co-captain M Will Mangan (Maplewood, N.J.) and sophomore G Steven Lusby (Severna Park, Md.). Mangan scored three goals for his third hat trick of his final RU campaign, while Lusby recorded his first career win in goal.

The Rutgers-St. John's series began in 1984 with the Scarlet Knights taking a 15-3 victory. RU holds a 16-3 all-time advantage against the Red Storm. SCOUTING THE ST. JOHN'S RED STORM
St. John's (3-2), led by fifth-year head coach Jason Miller, won its most recent outing at Stony Brook on March 13 by a score of 11-9. Sophomore attackman Kieran McArdle scored four goals, all in the second half, to help in the victory. The threesome of Kevin Cernuto, Harry Kutner and Terence Leach all finished with two goals each.
In early action this season, St. John's has won against Siena (8-5) and dropped contests to Syracuse (9-8) and at Yale (19-6). The Red Storm opened their season with a 17-7 victory over Holy Cross.
MENACING MANGAN
Senior co-captain M Will Mangan (Maplewood, N.J.) has emerged as a marked man by Rutgers' 2012 opponents. Through seven games, Mangan leads the Scarlet Knights with 22 points coming from a team-best 17 goals and five assists. He has recorded at least two points in all seven games of the 2012 season. Mangan's place as a focal point of the RU offense is cemented by his team-leading 54 shots taken. He has been crucial in the possession aspect of the game, scooping 21 ground balls to rank second on the team. Mangan was named to the Feb. 27 edition of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
TIP OF THE HAT
Senior co-captain M Will Mangan (Maplewood, N.J.) and redshirt sophomore A Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.) have combined to score Rutgers' four hat tricks this season. Mangan has scored three of the triples, with his latest effort netting him four points (three goals, one assist) in the 10-9 victory over Marist (March 13). His first came in the 11-10 win vs. Air Force (Feb. 19) inside the Carrier Dome and the second in the very next game, the 9-5 win at Wagner (Feb. 21). Mangan's overall output against the Seahawks included two assists to bring his point total to five for the game, which is tied for the team's individual game high this season. Klimchak scored his hat trick and tied for the team's individual game high with five total points off a three-goal, two-assist performance in the victory over the Falcons inside the Carrier Dome.
