Bieda Named Tewaaraton Semifinalist

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 29, 2016) - Rutgers men's lacrosse senior attacker Scott Bieda was named a semifinalist for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award. Bieda is one of 25 players still in consideration for the nation's top award. First presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
The Bridgewater, N.J. native is having one of the best seasons among Big Ten players this season. The two-time team captain has 25 goals, 32 assist and 57 points this season. He currently leads the conference in assists, points, points per game, and game-winning goals (three).
This season Bieda has set new career-highs in assists, game-winning goals, ground balls (27), and is one away from tying his career-high in points. His nine points in a game against St. John's in the season opener was the most points in any game by a Big Ten player this season.
In his career, Bieda has 87 goals, 97 assists and 184 points in 58 games played. He currently ranks 7th all-time at Rutgers in assists and points. He enters the Ohio State game having recording a point in 33 straight games, tied for the 10th longest streak in the nation.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
