Apr 06 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Scarlet Knights have two permanent captains for this season, a pair of reigning all-Big Ten selections in seniors Scott Bieda and Zack Sikora. The team additionally names gameday captains, recognizing the strong play and leadership of other players. Those players will join in as captains for the upcoming game.
For the next game Sunday afternoon against Michigan, Rutgers gameday captains will be a pair of seniors: Kris Alleyne and Ryan Hollingsworth.
Alleyne has started the past seven games in goal for the Scarlet Knights. He had his best outing of the season against No. 9 Johns Hopkins last Saturday, backstopping the team to a victory by making 14 saves and helping hold the Blue Jays to their second lowest goal output of the season. The New City, N.Y. native has a 8.50 goals-against-average on the season, second best among Big Ten starters. He also holds a 5-2 record and has a total of 71 saves with a 55.5 save percentage. Alleyne has made 481 saves in his Rutgers career, which ranks 9th all-time at Rutgers. With 19 more stops, he can become the 7th goalie in RU history to record 500 saves.
Hollingsworth has excelled in his role of Man-Up specialist for the Scarlet Knights. The Martinsville, N.J. native scored three times on the extra-man in Saturday's top-ten victory over JHU, doubling his season output to six goals on the year. The senior attacker now has 20 career goals in 32 games in a Scarlet Knight uniform.
The game Sunday begins at noon. Tickets are still available here.
