Men’s Hoops Hosts Coppin State Sunday Afternoon

PISCATAWAY - Rutgers will work to improve to 12-0 in non-conference home games under Steve Pikiell when it welcomes Coppin State to the RAC Sunday afternoon for a 12:30 p.m. tip-off. It will mark the first meeting between the Scarlet Knights and Eagles. RU is 15-0 all-time against current MEAC-member schools. After opening the season with three game in five days, the contest versus CSU will be the first of three over a six day span.
Fans will have the opportunity for post-game player autographs and Junior Knights Club members receive free admission to the contest. There will be direct weekend shuttles for Rutgers students and halftime will feature baby races on the court.
Sunday's game will be streamed live via the web on BTN Plus, with Lou Brogno calling the action and Patrick Boyle providing the analysis. On the radio, the contest will be broadcast live on the Rutgers IMG Sports Network, WOR 710 AM in New York and WCTC 1450 AM in New Brunswick. Jerry Recco will serve as play-by-play announcer and Joe Boylan will provide commentary. WRSU (88.7 FM) will also broadcast the game.
Rutgers used balanced scoring and strong defense to down Cleveland State, 70-38, at the RAC Tuesday evening. Issa Thiam and Geo Baker shared the team lead with 14 points, while Corey Sanders recorded a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. The Scarlet Knights held CSU to 30.8 percent shooting (14 percent from 3-point distance), committed just eight turnovers and established a 45-34 rebounding advantage. Deshawn Freeman contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while Mike Williams added eight points.
Under first-year head coach Juan Dixon, Coppin State begins its campaign with eight consecutive road games. The Eagles opened their season with losses at Final Four participant Oregon (70-54) and East Carolina (76-50) and will also travel to Cincinnati (Nov. 16) and Cleveland State (Nov. 17) before arriving in Piscataway. CSU was picked 12th in the MEAC preseason poll, with sophomore guard Dejuan Clayton receiving preseason third team honors.
In the NCAA statistics (Nov. 15), Rutgers is 1st in total rebounds (147.0), 3rd in scoring defense (47.7), 6th in personal fouls (12.7) and 8th in rebound margin (18.7). In the Big Ten stat rankings, RU leads the conference in scoring defense, FG% defense (.335), 3-point FG% defense (.236), rebounding offense (49.0), defensive rebounds (34.0) and defensive rebound % (.872).

Fans also have the opportunity flex ticket plans, which enable them to select any four games from the home schedule to create their own package. Flex ticket plans are $140 for 200 level center tickets, $120 for 200 level wing tickets, and $60 for 300 level tickets.
