Men’s Lacrosse Adds Two Mid-Year Enrollees

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse announced the addition of two new student-athletes to the roster, joining the program for the 2018 season. Tommy Coyne and Joe Peterson both graduated high school early in order to join RU as freshmen for the spring semester.
"We are very excited to have both Tommy and Joe become Scarlet Knights," head coach Brian Brecht said. "Both are very strong students and gifted players who I am very excited to welcome them to the Rutgers lacrosse family."

Prior to Rutgers: U.S. Lacrosse All-American … three-time all-conference selection, earning First Team honors in his last two seasons … finished high school career with 148 goals and 123 assists for 271 points … as a junior scored 57 goals with 70 assists and was named First Team All-State … named school's top attackman and Offensive MVP … as a sophomore scored 75 goals and 36 assists and was named Second Team All-State … named school's attackman of the year … as a freshman scored 16 goals and 17 assists to earn Honorable Mention All-Conference and school's Rookie of the Year … 2016 Maverik Lacrosse Showcase All-Star … 2017 First Team Academic All-Conference … earned 4.0 GPA and was on honor roll for three semesters … received Academic Achievement Award … also was a two-year starter in football and team captain, earning All-Conference and Academic All-Conference accolades
Personal: Parents are Andy and Donna … has a sister, Mackenzie … cousin Parker plays baseball at University of South Carolina … grandfather was history professor at Rutgers University – Newark campus.
