Women’s Soccer Matches Up with Wisconsin on BTN

Scarlet Knights and Badgers face off Thursday on national television

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  Rutgers women's soccer continues a three-match road swing with trips to Wisconsin on Thursday and Minnesota on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights matchup with the Badgers is slated for an 8 p.m. ET start live on Big Ten Network with Mike Monaco and Kate Markgraf on the call.
 
Sunday's match with the Golden Gophers is set for 2 p.m. ET and will be streamed on BTN Plus. Both contests will also be accompanied by live statistics.
 
RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • For the second consecutive match, sophomore forward Amirah Ali lifted Rutgers (6-1-3, 2-0-1) at Maryland with the golden goal less than a minute into overtime, marking her third game winner of the year.
  • In the previous match, Ali scored the game winner against Iowa in the final 11 seconds of the match. Ali also netted the game winner in the ranked overtime win over Wisconsin last season, scoring 26 seconds into the first OT period.
  • Senior back Kenie Wright assisted her second straight game winner against the Terrapins, also aiding Ali's golden goal against the Hawkeyes.
  • Ali is tied for the conference lead with seven goals, including two goals in league matches.
  • Junior midfielder Nicole Whitley leads the conference and is 12th in the nation with six assists on the season, surpassing former Scarlet Knight Carli Lloyd on the Rutgers career assists list with 19 helpers so far in her career.
  • Rutgers is second in the Big Ten standings following week two of conference matchups.
 
SCOUTING WISCONSIN
  • Wisconsin (8-2-1, 2-1-1) split its matches last weekend with a 2-0 loss at Michigan and a 2-1 victory at Michigan State.
  • The Badgers registered a win over Illinois in overtime, while tying with then-No. 12 Northwestern on conference opening weekend.
  • Lauren Rice leads the team with four goals on the season followed by Emily Borgmann with three.
  • Cameron Murtha has contributed a team-high four helpers.
  • In net, Jordyn Bloomer maintains a 0.96 GAA with 30 saves and three shutouts.
  • UW leads RU, 2-1, in all-time conference matchups dating back to 2014.
  • In a ranked match up last season, the No. 16 Scarlet Knights topped the No. 12 Badgers with the golden goal from Ali just 26 seconds into OT.
 
SCOUTING MINNESOTA
  • Minnesota (6-4-1, 2-1-1) wrapped up its weekend on the road with a scoreless tie at Michigan State and a 1-0, double overtime win at Michigan.
  • The squad registered a win over then-No. 12 Northwestern and fell to Illinois during opening weekend.
  • Ten Gophers have added goals this season, as April Bockin leads the team with four goals and three assists.
  • In net, Maddie Nielsen has notched the most time, maintaining a 0.80 GAA with 35 saves and four shutouts.
  • The series between Rutgers and Minnesota is tied at 3-3 and dates back to 1995.
  • Last season, the Gophers edged the Scarlet Knights, 2-1, at Yurcak Field.
