Meet Comes Down To Final Race With Big East Champion Villanova
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Back to competition after its annual winter training trips, the Rutgers women's swimming and diving team was narrowly edged by Villanova, 150.5-149.5, on Friday night at the Rutgers aquatics center.
"It was tough. Villanova is a great team who are Big East champions. We were literally a hundredth of a second away from tying the meet and two-hundredth of a second or one dive going another way from winning it. We've got to be better with the little things – we've got to be better on our turns, our starts. This is all getting ready for Big Ten's. I told the ladies, we lost by a point and we shouldn't be bitter about it, we just need to be better, improve and move on." – Head swimming coach Jon Maccoll
"I thought a lot of it was good. They were looking stronger with a lot of their dives. Unfortunately, we made some errors that right now we shouldn't be making. We're going to have to work hard on that the next few weeks as we get ready for Big Ten's." – Head diving coach Frederick Woodruff
