Dec 21 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse midfielder Connor Kirst was named a Preseason All-American by US Lacrosse Magazine. Kirst was recognized by the publication as one of the top three midfielders in the nation entering the 2021 season.
Kirst was previously recognized by Inside Lacrosse this preseason as the No. 23 player in the nation (including both men's and women's players). He was the 11th highest ranked men's player on that listing.
The Bernardsville, N.J. native joins his home state school this season as a graduate transfer after playing in 52 games at Villanova over the past four years, where he scored 84 goals and added 42 assists for 126 career points, also collecting 101 ground balls and causing 15 turnovers. He was named an Inside Lacrosse First Team All-American in 2020. Kirst also was tabbed BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, USILA All-American and Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American in 2019. As a sophomore, he was recognized as a First Team all-conference selection.
Kirst joins his brother Collin Kirst as members of the squad this season, joining the school where their father, Kyle Kirst, played as a goalkeeper from 1988 to 1990. Kyle was posthumously inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2016. The brothers were recently profiled in a feature story by US Lacrosse Magazine.
