Ethan Rall named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse earned its first Big Ten weekly award of the 2020 season, as Ethan Rall was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following the first week of action.
Rall, Rutgers' top long-stick midfielder, had a team-high three caused turnovers and collected four ground balls in a 20-9 win over Quinnipiac. The Islip, N.Y. native tied career-highs in both categories.
This is the second career award for Rall, who was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week last season following three ground balls and three caused turnovers in a win over Michigan. Last season, Rall had 18 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, leading Rutgers' returners in CTs.
The Scarlet Knights opened the season with a 20-9 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday, receiving goals from 13 different goal scorers. The team established a 6-1 first quarter advantage and 14-5 halftime lead to cruise to a victory.
Rutgers will be back in action Saturday, hosting St. John's. The game starts at 3 p.m., following the season opener for the women's lacrosse program.
