
Men's Lacrosse Announces Award Winners

Team awards from 2020 and 2021 were bestowed this past weekend at team banquet
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's lacrosse program announced its 2020 and 2021 individual award winners this past weekend at the team's annual banquet. The banquet was held on homecoming weekend, with a number of Scarlet Knight alumni in town for the festivites. Members of the senior class from both the 2020 and 2021 senior classes were recognized.
The program recognized members of the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season of six games, as well as the 2021 team that made history with the first NCAA Tournament victory since 1990. All got to compete after the banquet with RU players in the weekend's Scarlet-White Game.
The team's prestigious William Miller Trophy is awarded to the team member who, by his own example, has constituted an inspiration to his teammates and made the greatest contribution to the team in the season's play.
The 2020 trophy was shared between Kieran Mullins and Adam Charalambides. The duo were RU's top attackmen in the shortened six-game season, with Charalambides leading the team with 15 goals and 22 points, while Mullins had a team-best 10 assists along with 10 goals for 20 points.
The 2021 winner was Colin Kirst. The goalkeeper excelled in his first season "On the Banks" and was named an All-American by both the USILA (Third Team) and Inside Lacrosse (Honorable Mention). The Big Ten Specialist of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten selection posed a 10.77 goals-against-average and .566 save percentage with 137 saves. The Bernardsville, N.J. native was also selected for the 2021 USILA Senior All-Star Game.
The Knight Cup is awarded to the player who has played the game of lacrosse to the best of his ability, who has, by example, inspired or led by his teammates both on and off the field and who, above all, has consistently demonstrated the qualities of unselfishness and loyalty to his team and Rutgers University.
The 2020 winner was Ryan Gallagher. At starter that season at both midfield and attack, he was fourth on team with 11 goals, four assists and 15 points
The 2021 winner was Jordan Pakzad. A long-stick midfielder and three-time Academic All-Big Ten Selection, he was a valued member of the man-down defense.
The team's assist leader is the winner of The Alfred Sasser Trophy.
Kieran Mullins earned the accolade for both 2020 and 2021. He had 10 assists in 2020 and 23 assists in 2021. He finished his career with 103 assists, sixth all-time at Rutgers.
The Robert Collett Trophy is awarded to the member of the Rutgers varsity lacrosse team, who displays the best mental and physical spirit.
The 2020 winner was Garrett Bullett. A preseason all-conference selection by Inside Lacrosse that season, he was the team's top defenseman with 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
The 2021 winner was Connor Kirst. He was a Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection and was second on the team with 37 goals and 53 points.
The Al Twitchell Award is awarded to the freshman seen as the most valuable to the team.
The 2020 winner was Ross Scott. Making an immediate impact at both midfield and attack, he had five goals and one assists for six points, fifth on the team.
The 2021 winner was Shane Knobloch.The Moorestown, N.J. native was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and an All-American by the USILA after posting 16 goals and five assists, while being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times.
The Frederick Fitch Trophy is bestowed up the letterwinner who, through personal effort to develop his lacrosse ability, has shown the greatest improvement during the season.
The 2020 winner was Jaryd Jean-Felix. After seeing action in just one games in his first two collegiate seasons, Jean-Felix earned a starting role in 2020, developing into a two-year starter, all-conference and All-American pick.
The 2021 winner was Bobby Russo.A member of the rope unit in his first two seasons, Russo posted career-bests with 28 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in his first season and a full-time starter on close defense.
The Doc Peterson Award is awarded to the team member who displays a balance of both academics and athletics and has put the success of the program and his teammates ahead of himself. This award represents the individual who was the unsung hero of the season in all aspects.
The 2020 winner was Brendan Moreau. A native of Far Hills, N.J., Moreau dedicated four years to the program as a team manager.
The 2021 winner was Ethan Rall. The long-stick midfielder was an All-American and Second Team All-Conference selection with a career-high 26 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
The Campbell Sode Scholar Athlete Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA.
The 2020 winner was Moriah Yousefi, a faceoff specialist from Street, Md.
The 2021 winner was Mason Rickens, a long-stick midfielder from Lewis Center, Ohio.
The Collins Award is given to the member of the team with the greatest increase in GPA.
The 2020 winner was Jack Stahanczyk, a defenseman from Milford, Ohio.
The 2021 winner was Jonathan Dugenio, a faceoff specialist from Bridgewater, N.J.
