#22 Women's Soccer Welcomes Providence on Sunday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Coming off a season-opening victory, Rutgers women's soccer returns to action on Sunday, August 29 for a matchup with Providence. Start time is set for 5 p.m. ET at Yurcak Field, streaming live on Big Ten Network+.

FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING | All home matches at Yurcak Field will have free admission and parking. For free parking, fans are required to register their vehicle by clicking here. A one-time sign up will have the vehicle set for all home contests this season.
LAST TIME OUT | Rutgers (1-0) opened 2021 with a 6-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson. Nine different Scarlet Knights contributed to scoring in the win. Seniors Frankie Tagliaferri (1g, 2a), Amirah Ali (1g, 1a), and sophomore Sara Brocious (1g, 1a) led the offense.
Sophomores Sam Kroeger and Emily Sapienza, and freshman Riley Tiernan also added goals, while Lowrey, freshman Kylie Daigle, and senior Gabby Provenzano contributed assists for RU.
SHUTOUT SOCCER | The Scarlet Knights registered their first clean sheet of the season, holding FDU to two shots overall in the match. The lone shot on goal was saved by senior goalkeeper Meagan McClelland, earning her 28th career shutout. Dating back to 2019, RU has held 18 straight opponents to single-digit shots overall in each match, including eight clean sheets.
MAC HERMANN TROPHY | Seniors Amirah Ali and Frankie Tagliaferri were named to the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. It marks the first time two Scarlet Knights have been added to the list in the same season.
IN THE RANKINGS | Rutgers is ranked No. 22 in the lastest United Soccer Coaches Poll, moving up from a preseason rank of 25. The Scarlet Knights are also tabbed No. 21 by Top Drawer Soccer entering week two.

"It's really nice to be out on the field again and back to playing games. The win on Thursday just goes to show that we have a deep roster. Everyone is getting touches and everyone is creating goals. It's helping build confidence for everyone to go out, take shots and create a lot of chances," said sophomore forward Allison Lowrey.
