Rutgers baseball announced its schedule for the 2023 season on Monday afternoon. RU will play a slate of 55 regular season games, kicking things off on February 17th at Campbell and concluding on May 20th at Minnesota. The Big Ten Tournament is set to take place at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha beginning on May 24th, with the NCAA Tournament beginning the first weekend of June.

The Scarlet Knights are coming off a historic season that saw them set a program record with 44 wins and advance to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game. RU finished the year 44-15 with a 17-7 record in the Big Ten to finish second in the conference regular season standings.Â

On the heels of a historic season, the program announced the addition of lights and a new video display and scoreboard for the upcoming season. It will mark the first time night games will be played at Bainton Field, with the first game under the lights scheduled for April 12
th at 6 p.m. against Marist.Â

The Scarlet Knights will spend the first six weekends away from home, highlights by series against four NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago and a 40-win squad in Mercer. In total, RU will play 21 games against teams that qualified the 2022 NCAA Tournament.Â

Steve Owens said. "I'm sure that our fans will enjoy streaming our away games and watching our home games in person. We are excited about the addition of new lights and a video board to enhance the game day atmosphere and experience."

Rutgers opens the season with a road series at Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. from Feb. 17-19. The Camels are coming off a 41-19 season that saw them win the Big South Conference and advance to the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA tournament, where they went 1-2.

From Feb. 24-26, RU will head to Charleston, S.C. for the Swig and Swine Classic. The Scarlet Knights will play three games in three days against Canisius, Ball State and Boston College.Â

The 2023 home opener is set for Tuesday, Feb. 28
th against Saint Joseph's.

Rutgers will then head to North Carolina for the second time in the season when it faces off with UNC Greensboro in a three-game set from March 3-5. The Spartans won the SoCon in 2022 and advanced to the Statesboro Regional in the NCAA Tournament, going 1-2 before bowing out.Â

For Spring Break, the Scarlet Knights will embark on a 10-day trip to Georgia. They open their trip with a series at perennial power Georgia Southern on March 10-12. The Eagles finished 2022 with a record of 41-20 and hosted the NCAA Tournament Statesboro Regional as the No. 16 national seed.Â

After a midweek game at Kennesaw State, RU will head to Macon for a series at Mercer from March 17-19. The Bears went 40-18 in 2022 and finished second in the SoCon.

Rutgers caps off its nonconference slate with a visit to former Big East foe UConn on March 24-26. The Huskies are coming off a 50-win season, where they won the College Park Regional of the NCAA Tournament, defeating No. 15 seed Maryland and Wake Forest to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals. They ultimately fell to No. 2 Stanford in three games.

The Scarlet Knights open Big Ten play at home against Michigan State on March 31. In Big Ten play, RU will host the Spartans (March 31-April 2), Michigan (April 14-16), Penn State (May 5-7) and Illinois (May 12-14). Conference road opponents are Maryland (April 7-9), Northwestern (April 21-23), Purdue (April 28-30) and Minnesota (May 18-20).
