PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse had three players named all-conference as the Big Ten Conference released its postseason awards on Wednesday. Shane Knobloch, Ethan Rall and Ross Scott were named Second Team All-Big Ten. Jack Aimone was also recognized as the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
Rall was named all-conference for the third time. Knobloch and Scott earned all-conference accolades for the second straight season.
Knobloch had 18 goals and a team-high 17 assists for 35 points, second on the squad. The Moorestown, N.J. native was named A Midseason Third Team All-American. The midfielder is one of the final 25 players named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. He was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the week and to the USILA Team of the Week after posting three goals and four assists for a career-high seven points in a win over No. 5/6 Loyola. He also had the game-winning goal in the overtime win over No. 16 Michigan and assisted on the game-winning goal in the overtime win over No. 13/14 Princeton.
Rall has proven himself as one of the top long-stick midfielders in the nation. The Islip, N.Y. native made an impact all over the field, collecting 46 ground balls and causing 19 turnovers. He is second in the Big Ten with 1.58 caused turnovers per game. A Second Team Midseason All-American, he was a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. For his career, Rall has 150 ground balls and 83 caused turnovers, currently sitting just one caused turnover shy of tying the program's all-time record.
Scott leads the team in both goals (25) and points (38). The attackman was a Midseason All-American (Honorable Mention) and one of the Top 25 on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The West Linn., Ore. native has two five-goal games and six multi-goal games this season. Both Scott and Rall are team captains this season.
Aimone has had a breakout season as a junior. The midfielder has set career-highs with 21 goals, six assists and 27 points. A New Jersey product from Ringoes via Hunterdon Central, he has six multi-goal games.
Rutgers is on to postseason play, beginning the Big Ten Tournament this weekend. RU will head on the road to play at Maryland at 8 p.m. on Saturday, a game that will be televised on Big Ten Network.
