PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 8, 2023) – Rutgers shortstop Josh Kuroda-Grauer is one of 56 players to receive an invite to the 2023 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp this summer.
With the invite, Kuroda-Grauer will head to Cary, North Carolina for training camp and compete for a spot on the 26-man Collegiate National team. The camp consists of a four-game instraquad series from June 25-28, with a final, 26-man Collegiate National Team roster being selected at the conclusion. This group will compete against Chinese Taipei and Japan from June 30-July 12.
Kuroda-Grauer had a stellar sophomore season on the Banks in which he was named one of 25 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is given annually to the top shortstop in the country.
He batted .298 this past season with 26 extra-base hits (15 2B, 5 3B, 6 HR) and 32 RBIs, batting primarily out of the leadoff spot. He also posted an .880 OPS with 27 walks and 10 HBP to just 24 strikeouts and ranked second on the team with 13 stolen bases. Kuroda-Grauer also boasted an elite .973 fielding percentage while starting all 56 games at shortstop.
"Josh has put together two excellent seasons in our program in all aspects of the game," head coach Steve Owens said. "His talent and consistency have earned him a great opportunity to compete against the nation's best."
This marks the second straight year with a Scarlet Knight receiving an invite to the Collegiate National Team Training Camp, with Ryan Lasko having competed last summer. Only two Rutgers players have gone on to play for the Team USA Collegiate National Team, with Bobby Brownlee (2001) and Todd Frazier (2006) each representing Team USA on behalf of Rutgers.
