Apr 27 | Men's Lacrosse
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Rutgers men's lacrosse saw its Big Ten Tournament journey end in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals, falling to No. 10 Penn State by a final score of 14-8. The Scarlet Knights fell to 7-7 overall on the season, while Penn State improved to 10-3.
Big Ten Freshman of the Year Cardin Stoller made 18 saves, just one short of his career-high. Freshman Colin Kurdyla had his sixth multi-goal game of the year and tied his season-high with his third hat trick.
RU came out with a 2-0 lead early, with Dante Kulas and Colin Kurdyla scoring in the opening five minutes. Penn State answered back with the next three goals. Kurdyla had the final goal of the opening quarter for RU, but a late PSU tally gave the home team a 4-3 lead after the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, Logan Peters and John Sidorski provided goals for the Scarlet Knights. However, a 4-0 run for Penn State propelled them, and the Nittany Lions held an 8-5 lead at halftime.
James Ringer provided a third quarter tally for RU, but the home team extended their lead to 11-6 after three frames.
In the fourth quarter, Ross Scott and Colin Kurdyla scored, but it was not enough as Penn State pulled away for the victory.
