Pitching Coach Brendan Monaghan Announces Resignation
May 22 | Baseball
"I'm grateful for the last five years my family and I have spent at Rutgers," Monaghan said. "Coming home to New Jersey and representing our state university in the Big Ten was a privilege. We'll hold onto the memories and relationships we made during our time and wish the program tons of success going forward."
"Brendan has been a tremendous asset to our players and program throughout his entire tenure." head coach Steve Owens said. "I appreciate all that he has accomplished professionally and admire the character and consistency that he brought to our staff and baseball family. I wish him and his family the very best in their next steps."
Monaghan spent five seasons as the pitching coach at RU, where he helped lead the Scarlet Knights to a 132-95 record, a school-record 44 wins in 2022 and their first two appearances in the Big Ten Tournament. In his time at Rutgers, Monaghan mentored seven All-Big Ten pitchers and saw eight pitchers either drafted or signed by a Major League Baseball franchise.
A national search for his replacement is underway.
