Women’s Lacrosse Readies for Road Matchup at Temple Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (4-2) hits the road to face Temple (8-0) on Saturday at Howarth Field. First draw is set for noon and will stream on ESPN+.
The Owls are undefeated and ranked No. 19 in this week's USA Lacrosse Top 20, as the Scarlet Knights begin a three-game stretch against ranked foes. RU is also on the road against No. 13 Stony Brook on March 11 before it hosts No. 9 Johns Hopkins on March 15 in Piscataway.
Rutgers has won four of its first six games to begin the season, defeating Hofstra, 17-7, on February 28 at SHI Stadium in its last time out. The Scarlet Knights also own wins over Delaware, Monmouth and Villanova heading into the midpoint of the regular season.

• Rutgers earned a dominant 17-7 win over Hofstra last Saturday at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights never trailed the Pride in the out-of-conference matchup, outshooting the visitors 35-22 and outscoring their opponent 10-5 in the second half.
• Sophomore Caroline Ling matched a career high with seven points on five goals and two assists, while freshman Kate Theofield netted a career-high four goals on six shots. Senior Lily Dixon dished out five assists, passing Marin Hartshorn (2019-23) for the most assists in program history at 94 during her time 'On the Banks.'
• Rutgers once again dominated on 50-50 opportunities, with senior Katie Buck setting a program single-game record for draw controls with 14 to help the Scarlet Knights to a 17-8 advantage in center circle. Buck also caused a game-high three turnovers. Graduate student goalkeeper Simone Koryszewski saved seven shots in the first half to earn her fourth win of the season.

• Thanks to her five helpers over the weekend, Dixon surpassed Marin Hartshorn for the career assists record at Rutgers with 94.
• With 18 more assists this season, Dixon will pass Steph Kelly (2022) for the program's single-season record.
• Dixon leads the Big Ten and is third in the country with 22 assists this spring. She is also first in the conference and fourth nationally with 3.67 assists per game. Her 4.83 points per game is tied with Ling for third in the Big Ten.

• Rutgers has been featured three times on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays over the past two weeks. Sophomore Delainey Sutley appeared at No. 6 two weeks ago thanks to her behind-the-back finish against Monmouth, while rookie Kate Theofield earned back-to-back appearances thanks to her highlight goals at No. 14 Princeton and against Hofstra.

• Buck has been one of the top draw takers in the country this season, with her 57 draw controls first in the Big Ten and sixth nationally.
• Buck is first in the Big Ten and 10th in the country with 9.50 draw controls per game, having tallied 13 or more draw controls in each of her past two games.

• Including its matchups with Army and Princeton, Rutgers is set to play eight programs ranked in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll. The list includes No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 8 Michigan, No. 9 Johns Hopkins, No. 13 Stony Brook, No. 17 Penn State, No. 18 Princeton and No. 23 Army.

• The Owls enter the weekend with an 8-0 record and are one of just 11 remaining undefeated teams in the country after they defeated Towson in overtime, 13-12, on Wednesday night in their last time out.
• Temple is ranked No. 19 in the USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20 and receiving votes in the IL Women Top 25.
• The Owls are second in the American Conference and 11th nationally in scoring defense (7.29), causing 10.57 turnovers per game.
• Riley Horoshko has been one of the top netminders in the country this season. She leads the country in save percentage (.626), is seventh in saves (57) and eighth in goals against average (6.88).
• Temple leads the all-time series with Rutgers, 23-10, but the Scarlet Knights have won the past three meetings. RU defeated the Owls, 19-7, last season in Piscataway.
