Egbert Earns Valley League Pitching Honors

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Picking up where he left off with Rutgers this past spring, rising junior Jack Egbert (Rutherford, NJ) has been named the Valley League Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, June 29.
Egbert started and won two games during the week for the Royals, who went 7-1 and own the league's top record at 12-3. In his start against Waynesboro, Egbert worked six shutout innings, allowed seven hits and one walk while striking out nine to improve to 2-0 on the season. Sunday night (June 29), Egbert tossed a seven-inning complete game against Harrisonburg, as the Royals completed a doubleheader sweep of the Turks with a 6-3 win in the night cap. Egbert allowed three earned runs on six hits, walked one and struck out nine.
On the season, Egbert is tied for the league lead with three wins, owns the league's sixth-best ERA at 1.80, and has struck out 28 batters while walking three. Egbert went 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA for Rutgers during the spring, including a six-hit complete game shutout against Virginia Tech in the Big East Tournament. He was 6-1 in league play, finishing second in the league in wins.
