Rutgers Baseball Eliminated from BIG EAST Playoffs

PITTSBURGH, PA – The St. John's Red Storm captured a 6-5 victory in the second game of their doubleheader today with Pittsburgh, thus clinching the fourth and final spot in the 2004 BIG EAST Baseball Championship. Rutgers, which has dropped its first two games vs. Villanova, is officially eliminated from postseason play.
Rutgers had reached the postseason every year since 1986, a stretch of 18-consecutive years. In each of the last two seasons, Rutgers advanced to the BIG EAST Championship game, falling to Notre Dame both times.
The Scarlet Knights will wrap up their 2004 season vs. Villanova at noon on Sunday. Senior Shaun Parker (Mt. Holly, NJ) will make his final career start.
