Frazier Signs Contract with Detroit Tigers

PISCATAWAY, NJ - All-American outfielder Jeff Frazier (Toms River, NJ) became the fifth and final member of the 2004 Rutgers baseball team to sign a professional contract when he agreed to terms with the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Frazier, the team's third-round selection, is headed to the Oneonta Tigers of the NY-Penn League and is expected to make his debut at some point this week.
Frazier, who batted .382 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI in 2004 for Rutgers, joins his older brother, Charlie, in professional baseball. Charlie was recently promoted to the AA Carolina Mudcats on June 9.
In other related news, Nick Cerulo (Woodbridge, NJ) collected his first professional hit on Sunday, going 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in the Idaho Falls Chukars' 16-6 win. Fellow senior Shaun Parker (Mt. Holly, NJ) made his professional debut for the Staten Island Yankees on Saturday, pitching a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout. Jack Egbert (Rutherford, NJ) and Graig Badger (Union, NJ), meanwhile, have yet to start their seasons.
