Pustay Among Three Locals Named to NECBL All-Star Team

WEST WARWICK, RI - Rutgers pitcher Matt Pustay (Hamilton, NJ), a rising junior, has been named to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Southern Division All-Star Team and will play in its annual game on Sunday in Montpelier, VT. Pustay is among the league's top hurlers, currently second in the league with 54.1 innings pitched.
Playing for the Riverpoint Royals based in West Warwick, RI, Pustay owns a 2-3 record with a 2.96 ERA thus far. In 54.1 innings, he has allowed just 49 hits and 18 earned runs, while walking just three hitters and striking out 35. Opponents are hitting .241 against him. The Royals are currently 18-15 mark and 1.5 games out of first place in the Southern Division.
Other locals in the All-Star game include Southern Division starter Gene Crimoli (Rider) and Northern Division reserve Tim Pahuta (Seton Hall). Crimoli is hitting .244 with two home runs and 22 RBI, good for fifth in the league, while Pahuta is at .250 with one home run and 19 RBI.
