
Rutgers MLB Update - Season Review

Todd Frazier
Frazier finished off the 2015 season as one of the best hitters in the MLB. In his fourth year with the Cincinnati Reds, Frazier ranked fourth in the National League with 35 home runs, 11th in RBIs with 89 and 18th in WAR with a 4.0 mark. Frazier was named an MLB All-Star and started at third base for the National League. Frazier also captured the Home Run Derby Title with one of the most memorable performances of the year, defeating Joc Peterson of the Dodgers in the finals with a bonus time home run in front of his hometown crowd at Great American Ballpark. Frazier led the Reds in home runs, RBIs and doubles while also ranking second in runs scored with 82, third in hits with 158, third in walks with 44 and third in stolen bases with 13.

David DeJesus
DeJesus capped off his 12th year in the MLB with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He started the season with the Rays before being dealt on July 28, right before the trade deadline. DeJesus finished the year with a .233 batting average, 67 hits and 30 RBIs. He contributed in an Angel’s outfield that featured 2014 MVP and 2015 All-Star Mike Trout, slugger Cole Calhoun and veterans David Murphy and Shane Victorino. DeJesus owns 10-and-5 rights in MLB.

Patrick Kivlehan
Kivlehan finished his 2015 season with the Seattle Mariners' AAA affiliate, the Tacoma (Wash.) Rainiers. In 123 games this season, Kivlehan crushed 22 home runs which ranked first on the team. He also finished second in doubles with 25, third in hits with 121 and third in RBIs with 73.

Brian O'Grady
O'Grady capped off his time with the Cincinnati Reds' A affiliate, the Dayton (Ohio) Dragons. Despite being called up to the Reds Advanced-A affiliate, the Daytona Tortugas, O'Grady led the Dragons with 21 stolen bases. O’Grady also finished second on the team in walks with 46, third in home runs with six and fifth in RBIs with 36. He finished his 2015 season with Daytona posting 29 hits, five home runs and 18 RBIs in 45 games. The team advanced to the Florida State League championship series.

Mark McCoy
McCoy finished off his 2015 season with 13 appearances for the Kansas City Royals Rookie affiliate, the Burlington Royals. He posted a 2.17 ERA in 29.0 innings pitched while also striking out 29 batters. McCoy finished the year with a 1-1 record and also picked up one save for the Royals.

In the coaching ranks, Darren Fenster finished his second season as the manager for the Greenville Drive in the Boston Red Sox minor league season. Eric Young served as the first base coach for the Colorado Rockies.
