PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- By recording a perfect score of 1,000 for 2013-14, Rutgers baseball improved its multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) to 978 in the latest report released by the NCAA Wednesday. It is the highest mark the Scarlet Knights have recorded since reaching that number in 2005-06.
"I am proud of the success our players have achieved in the classroom," head coach Joe Litterio said. "We have improved our team GPA and it is great to see the APR score steadily increase."
Rutgers ranks higher that the average Division I baseball score (967) and the average mark for public intuitions (963) in the sport. Overall, the Scarlet Knights are in the 60th percentile compared to other baseball programs nationally.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
