Baseball Adds Russo & Valderrama to Recruiting Class

Student-athletes to join program this fall
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball head coach Joe Litterio has announced the additions of Alex Russo and Victor Valderrama to the 2018 recruiting class. The two will join the program in the fall with the eight previously signed recruits.
Alex Russo

Notes: Set to become a three-year letterwinner at Morris Hills … hitting 20-for-47 (.426) as a senior … named honorable mention All-Northeast Region by Perfect Game … led team in hits (26), doubles (11), runs scored (14) and homers (2) as a junior … named All-NJAC First Team American Division in 2017 … participated in the 2017 Garden State Underclass Games … earned a spot on the 2017 All-Academic team … played travel baseball with the Morris County Cubs from 2011-18 … played way to WWBA Underclass World All-Tournament Team in 2016 … also played with Farrah Scout in 2017 … son of James and Suzanne Russo … has an older sister, Kelly … cousin, Kierstyn Mabey, was a four-year starter on the La Salle women's soccer team.
Victor Valderrama

Notes: Set to become a become a four-year letterwinner at Palmetto … played center field, shortstop and pitched … named to 2018 Senior All-Star Team and honorable mention All-Florida Region by Perfect Game … helped the Panthers to GMAC Tournament championship after winning the district … earned team MVP as a junior after hitting .337 with 16 RBIs and 23 runs scored … named All-Dade Third Team and all-district … team won the region and advanced to state final four … an honorable mentioned All-Dade selection as a sophomore … hit .357 in first varsity season in 2015 … son of Victor and Vivian Valderrama … has two older sisters, Vanessa and Veronica.
