O’Grady Earns Promotion to Cincinnati Reds

Rutgers product tied for third in International League with 27 home runs
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball alumnus Brian O'Grady has earned a promotion to the big leagues. The Cincinnati Reds called up the infielder Monday prior to the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Great American Ballpark.
O'Grady joins Todd Frazier (New York Mets) as Scarlet Knights currently in the majors. The last RU product to debut at the highest level was Patrick Kivlehan in 2016 with the San Diego Padres.
A third-team all-conference pick as a senior in at Rutgers, he led or tied the team lead with 67 hits, five home runs, five triples, 104 total bases, 20 multiple-hit games and a .510 slugging percentage. O'Grady, who played outfield and infield, hit .328 for the season with an on-base percentage of .402, also recording 40 runs and 13 stolen bases. He hit a memorable walk-off home run in the bottom of the 14th inning against Temple to end a four hour, 10 minute game at Bainton Field. He finished his collegiate career ranked third in RU baseball history with 771 career at bats, seventh with 227 hits, ninth with 105 walks and tied for 10th with 46 doubles and 10 triples and was picked in the eighth round in 2014.
O'Grady played in 572 games in the minor leagues, totaling 471 hits, 75 homers, 289 walks, 292 RBIs and 81 stolen bases.

O'Grady hit 27 homers at Triple-A Louisville this season to tie for third in the International League and establish a new team record since being affiliated with the Reds. Slashing .277/.351/.562, O'Grady collected 70 RBIs, tied for fourth in the league, with 27 doubles, 66 runs, 43 walks and 16 stolen bases.
