PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball outfielder
Ryan Lasko was tabbed the Big Ten Preseason Freshman of the Year by
D1Baseball in its conference preview released this week. The Jackson, New Jersey, native is listed No. 1 in a ranking of projected impact first-year freshmen in the league.
"Ryan is a gifted outfielder with a complete skill set," head coach
Steve Owens said upon signing Lasko in the coaching staff's first recruiting class in Nov. 2019. "He hits for average and power, runs very well, defends at a high level and plays the game hard. He has a chance to do some special things going forward with his physical ability and his tough aggressive style of play."
Playing at Jackson Memorial, Lasko helped the Jaguars win the South Jersey Regional title and make a run to the championship game of the "Last Dance World Series" last summer. The four-year varsity letterwinner was an All-Shore selection in 2019 and played travel baseball for Baseball U.
