Ben Wereski pitched a seven-inning complete game with only two earned runs allowed, but Iowa (14-9) surrendered just one run to take game two of the series, 3-1, over Rutgers baseball (11-11) Saturday at Bainton Field. It was the first end of a doubleheader.

Making his seventh start of the season, Wereski did not walk a batter for the fourth time. The left-hander permitted only five hits with 14 outs through the air.

Offensively,
Ryan Lasko blasted a solo homer in the sixth, his fifth long ball in five games. The outfielder is up to eight homers overall as a freshman.

Drew Irvine earned the win for the Hawkeyes with five strikeouts over seven innings.
