No. 6 Men's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season at Michigan Sunday

Game will be televised by ESPNU at noon

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 6 Rutgers men's lacrosse heads to Ann Arbor this weekend for the regular season finale. The Scarlet Knights will face Michigan on Sunday at noon. The game will be televised by ESPNU with Mike Corey and Quint Kessenich on the call.

Rutgers will look to finish the regular season with an 8-2 mark, which would mark the third time in the past six years that RU concluded the regular season six games over .500. The last time that RU got through a regular season with less than three losses was 1982, as the team finished that season with a 10-2 mark.

Last week, Rutgers earned a 17-11 win over Johns Hopkins on Senior Day. Seventh-year senior Adam Charalambides led the way with a stellar performance, setting a season-high and tying his career-high with six goals, also tallying two assists for an eight-point day. With the score tied at 11-11 in the third quarter, Charalambides scored three goals in a span of 1:45 to spark a 6-0 Rutgers scoring run over the final 21 minutes of the game. Charalambides has scored multiple goals in every game this year, has five games of at least four goals, and has 11 goals in his last two games combined.

In the cage, Colin Kirst was exceptional with 15 saves. The netminder has stabilized the RU backline this season, posting double-digit saves in eight of nine games. He boasts a 11.19 goals-against-average, alongside a 54.2% save percentage that is second in the Big Ten and a league-best 12.78 saves per game. Also on the defensive end, short-stick defensive midfielder Brennan Kamish had four ground balls, along with a caused turnover, goal and assist, and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Rutgers attack trio continue to lead the way for the RU offense, as Charalambides combined with Kieran Mullins and Connor Kirst to produce 12 goals and six assists in the win over the Blue Jays. Charalambides leads the team with 35 goals and 47 points, followed by Kirst with 25 goals and 39 points and Mullins with 21 goals and a team-best 18 assists to also total 39 points. On the season, the trio has combined for 81 goals, 44 assists and 125 points, representing 57% of the team's total offensive output. Charalambides and Kirst are both among the 25 players listed for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award.

Rutgers has also received double-digit goals from Shane Knobloch (15) and David Sprock (12). 11 players have scored multiple goals for RU this year, 19 players have totaled at least one goal, and 20 players have recorded a point this season.

Charalambides enters the weekend with 140 goals. He needs just one goal to tie Tom Sweeney for the third most goals in RU history, and four goals to tie Greg Rinaldi for second most in program history. Kieran Mullins enters the game two assists shy of 100 for his career.

Rutgers enters the weekend in the top-ten in the nation in man-up offense (third, 52.4%), scoring offense (fourth, 15.56), points (sixth, 24.3 per game), clearing percentage (eighth, 89.2%) and shot percentage (eighth, 33.6%). The Scarlet Knights also lead the Big Ten in caused turnovers (8.22) and saves per game (13.11). Individually, Charalambides is second in the league in goals and points per game. His 3.89 goals per game is fourth nationally. RU is the only team in the nation to put up 22 goals in three separate games this season.

Michigan comes into the weekend at 2-7 overall, with wins over Johns Hopkins and against then-No. 17 Penn State. The team has been outscored 137-96 overall. Josh Zawada and Bryce Clay share the team lead with 18 goals. In goal, John Kiracofe has a 14.86 goals-against-average and 42.2% save percentage. On faceoffs, Nick Rowlett is 130-of-239 for a 54.4% winning percentage.

Rutgers leads the all-time series 6-1 against the Wolverines, and have won five straight meetings. The Scarlet Knights earned a 22-12 win over UM when the squads met earlier this year. In that game, Charalambides had a career-high nine points (four goals, five assists), Kieran Mullins had seven points (two goals and five assists) and Connor Kirst scored four goals. Mullins has scored 18 goals and added 10 assists in four lifetime matchups against the Wolverines.
