PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Illinois (22-21) scored in each of the first six innings on the way to claiming a 13-1 win over Rutgers baseball (20-23) in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Bainton Field. The game was scheduled for seven innings in an attempt to play a twinbill through inclement weather.

Chris Brito crushed his 10
th homer of the season to right-center. He now has 16 career long balls, an active 16-game on-base streak and 43 RBIs on the season. Joining
Ryan Lasko's 11 homers, the Scarlet Knights now have two players in double figures for the first time since 2010 (Pat Biserta, Michael Lang).

Nathan Lavender earned the win for Illinois with 10 strikeouts, two hits and one run allowed in six innings. The Fighting Illini connected for three homers offensively.
