Baseball Ranked No. 29, Lasko Named All-American in Collegiate Baseball Preview

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 20, 2022) – Rutgers baseball is ranked No. 29 in Collegiate Baseball's 2023 preseason rankings, released on Tuesday. Junior outfielder Ryan Lasko was named a Preseason Second Team All-American by the outlet.
RU opens the 2023 season on Feb. 17 at Campbell, kicking off a nonconference slate that also features a trip to the Swig & Swine Classic in Charleston, S.C. and series at UNC Greensboro, Georgia Southern, Mercer and UConn.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off a historic season that saw them set a program record with 44 wins and advance to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game. RU finished the year 44-15 with a 17-7 record in the Big Ten to finish second in the conference regular season standings.
Lasko led the Big Ten with 90 hits and 81 runs last season, while also tying for the Rutgers lead with 16 home runs. His 12 home runs in Big Ten games were two shy of the all-time Big Ten record for home runs in a conference season. He batted .349, hit 16 home runs and 51 RBI with a 1.074 OPS, stole 13-of-14 bases and collected 166 total bases. This season, Lasko will look to build on a list of accolades that includes ABCA/Rawlings All-America Second Team, All-Big Ten First Team, All-Region First Team, ECAC Player of the Year and Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist.
