Nick Cimillo Named NCBWA District Player of the Year

Cimillo led the Big Ten in batting average, slugging percentage and OPS
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 10, 2022) – Rutgers baseball catcher Nick Cimillo was named the District Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Friday afternoon. He is one of just 12 players nationally to receive the honor and is the only Big Ten player.
Cimillo receives the honor as the top player in District 2, which contains players from Connecticut, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Washington D.C.
With all teams in the Big Ten having completed their respective seasons, Cimillo tops the conference leaderboards with a 385 batting average, .707 slugging percentage and 1.199 OPS. He also tied for the Rutgers team lead with 16 home runs on the season.
This marks the first time a Rutgers player has received District Player of the Year since RJ Devish in 2016.
Cimillo receives the honor as the top player in District 2, which contains players from Connecticut, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Washington D.C.
