
Baseball Hosts Successful Scrimmage Against Vanderbilt

The teams competed across three continuous six-inning segments, with the Scarlet Knights winning all three by scores of 8-4, 6-2 and 2-0.
RU received contributions all across the board, led by consistent performances on the mound. In total, 11 Scarlet Knight pitchers combined for 22 strikeouts to just four walks and allowed only two earned runs in their 18 innings on the mound. All 11 pitchers recorded a strikeout.
In the batter's box, true freshman Ty Doucette set the tone with a two-run home run in the first inning. Four different RU players hit a home run on Saturday, with RJ Johnson Jr., Tony Santa Maria and Trevor Cohen all joining Doucette.
Josh Kuroda-Grauer, Cohen, Santa Maria, Doucette, Jordan Sweeney, Cameron Love and JD Jones all had multi-hit efforts for the offense.
Rutgers continues its fall season this Friday, when the team hosts Stony Brook at 4 p.m. at Bainton Field.
The fall season wraps up with the annual Scarlet-Black Intrasquad World Series, with five games set to take place between Nov. 3 and Nov. 12 at Bainton Field.
