BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The highly-anticipated 2023 season for Rutgers baseball gets underway this weekend on the road against Campbell.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 44-15 campaign in 2022 that saw them set a program record in wins and advance to the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament. The Fighting Camels finished 2022 with a record of 41-19, won the Big South and advanced to the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA Tournament. They were picked to repeat as Big South champions in the conference preseason polls this year.
Friday's series opener and Sunday's finale will both be streamed on ESPN+. There will be no stream for Saturday's game, but fans can follow along on Twitter for live updates of the game.
For Rutgers, Seton Hall transfer Drew Conover earned the role of Friday starter and will get the ball for the series opener. He will be followed by true freshman Christian Coppola on Saturday and Le Moyne transfer Jake Marshall on Sunday. All three will be making their first starts in a Rutgers uniform.
The Camels will go with Cade Kuehler on Friday, who was named a preseason all-american by multiple outlets as well as preseason Big South Pitcher of the Year. JuCo transfer Chance Daquila will start on Saturday and Cade Boxrucker will get the ball on Sunday.
