BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Rutgers baseball dropped the second game of its series at Campbell, falling by a score of 10-0 on Saturday afternoon.
For the second straight day, the Camels struck early, scoring runs in both the first and second innings to get out to an early 2-0 lead.
True freshman
Christian Coppola was able to limit the damage in his first ever start, striking out five batters in his 3+ innings of work. Coppola finished the day with 3.1 innings, allowing five hits, 2 runs (1 earned), two walks and five strikeouts.
Campbell continued to add to its lead after Coppola left, scoring runs in the fifth through eighth innings to ultimately push the score to 10-0.
In addition to Coppola, true freshmen
Pablo Santos,
Maximus Martin and
Andrew Goldan made their Rutgers debuts.
The Scarlet Knights wrap up their series against the Camels at noon on Sunday, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN+.
