Baseball Loses Game 2 at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Rutgers baseball dropped Saturday's game to Indiana, falling by a score of 12-6 at Bart Kaufman Field.

The Scarlet Knights (24-18, 3-11) once again were unable to overcome an early deficit to the Hoosiers (24-18-1, 9-5), who clinched the series with the win.

Rutgers took an early lead, with Ty Doucette driving in a run with an RBI groundout in the top of the first.

After Indiana led off the bottom half with a solo home run, Donovan Zsak worked through the frame thanks in part to strikeout-caught stealing double play, with Hugh Pinkney throwing out the runner at third.

The Hoosiers would then strike for four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead.

Rutgers started to claw back in the fourth, with a two-run single from Josh Kuroda-Grauer and RBI double from Doucette making it 5-4. The Hoosiers built on their lead with two in the bottom half, making it 7-4.

The Scarlet Knights got two more in the fifth on an RBI groundout from Trevor Cohen and RBI single from Cameron Love, making it a one-run game again at 7-6.

Indiana got back a run in the sixth on an RBI single to bring the score to 8-6. The Hoosiers then broke it open with four more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

The series finale between Rutgers and Indiana is set for 11 a.m. on Sunday morning and will be broadcast nationally on Big Ten Network.
