PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball dropped game two of its series against Iowa, losing 16-0. The Hawkeyes (6-7, 1-1) scored early in the game and built on their lead in the later innings to tie the series against the Scarlet Knights (6-8, 1-1).
After a walk and single put on a pair for the visitors in the top of the first, another single up the middle scored the first run of the game.
Landon Mack pitched scoreless second and third innings, but a solo home run and two-out single plated two more for Iowa to make it 3-0.
The Hawkeyes extended their lead more in the fifth, using a wild pitch, three-run homer, sac fly and two-run double to jump out to a 10-0 advantage.
Iowa tacked on five more in the sixth and another in the seventh to finish off the 16-0 run-rule victory.
The series finale and rubber match between Rutgers and Iowa is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Due the men's basketball game on Sunday at 1 p.m., fans coming to Bainton Field should be advised of the following parking procedures: Beginning at 12 p.m., Hospital Road will only be accessible via Avenue E. Fans attempting to access Hospital Road via Suttons Lane will be redirected. Additionally, once the gravel lot adjacent to the Fred Hill Complex fills up, fans will need to park in the Yellow Lot which will cost $30 due to the men's basketball game.
