Baseball Drops Friday Game at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Rutgers baseball fell on Friday night to East Carolina by a score of 14-2 in seven innings at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Scarlet Knights (4-4) fell behind early, and the Pirates (5-4-1) continued to add on and secure the run-rule victory.
Three runs crossed in the first for ECU on a sac fly, balk and RBI single. The hosts added four more in the second on a two-run home run, sac fly and bases-loaded walk.
RU got on the board in the third with an RBI single from Peyton Bonds.
The Pirates kept adding on with multiple runs in each of the first five innings to expand their lead to as big as 14-1.
The Scarlet Knights pushed across one run in the sixth on a single from Tristan Salinas, but that was all the offense for RU in the game.
Rutgers is back in action tomorrow afternoon in the Keith LeClair Classic against Western Carolina, with first pitch set for noon. The Scarlet Knights will be the away team in the neutral site contest.
