MILWAUKEE – Rutgers baseball alumnus Brian Fitzpatrick has been called up to make his MLB debut for the Milwaukee Brewers. Fitzpatrick will be in Milwaukee and available to pitch in the team's Wednesday night game against the Diamondbacks at 7:40 p.m. at American Family Field. He earns the promotion after a strong start to 2026, posting a 0.00 ERA in 10.1 innings with 11 strikeouts to just two walks for Triple-A Nashville.
Fitzpatrick is primed to be the first Scarlet Knight to appear in an MLB game since both Brian O'Grady and Patrick Kivlehan played for the Padres in 2021 and is the first MLB call up since O'Grady was called up in 2019. He also becomes the first player under head coach Steve Owens to play in the major leagues.
A 10th-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Brewers, Fitzpatrick has appeared in 81 games across all levels of the minor leagues in the Brewers system, posting a 3.49 ERA in 172.2 innings.
Across his Rutgers career, Fitzpatrick appeared in 23 games with seven starts on the mound. In his senior season, he posted a 3-1 record with a 3.91 ERA and 28 strikeouts to just nine walks in 23 innings. The final game of his collegiate career was four shutout innings with six strikeouts in a semifinal win over Indiana in the 2022 Big Ten Tournament.
