Prior to Rutgers: Four-year varsity starter in both baseball and soccer at Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS ... First Team All-State selection by the Star Ledger... three-time first team all-county pick and 2010 Union County Player of the Year by the Star Ledger ... served as captain for both baseball and soccer teams his final two seasons ... collected 154 hits, 120 RBIs and 162 runs in his standout four-year career ... team went 86-24-1 in his four years ... batted .538 with eight doubles, four triples, six home runs and scored 55 runs with 40 RBIs and was a perfect 11-for-11 on stolen bases his senior season ... owned a slugging percentage of .912 and an on-base percentage of .591 and did not commit an error in left field in final season at Scotch Plains-Fanwood ... guided team to a 25-6 record in 2010 ... hit .494 with five home runs and 30 RBIs his junior season ... served as a sweeper on the school's soccer team where he earned Third Team All-State honors by the Star Ledger in 2009.
