Fecteau joins the Scarlet Knights following an eight-year tenure as the pitching coach at Virginia Tech, where he also served as associate head coach from 2022-25. He brings 20 years of coaching experience to the Banks and reunites with Owens, who he coached under at Bryant from 2011-16.
Over the course of his career, Fecteau has mentored 36 MLB draft picks and five All-Americans. Including stops at three different schools, Fecteau has seen at least one of his pitchers drafted in each of the last 13 seasons, including multiple draft selections 10 times.
Over his eight seasons at Virginia Tech, Fecteau developed 17 MLB Draft selections and a pair of All-Americans, including eight draft picks in the last three seasons. The Hokies won 30-plus games in each of his last four seasons, including a 45-win season in 2022 that saw Virginia Tech advance to and host an NCAA Super Regional.
The 2025 campaign at Virginia Tech saw Fecteau's pitching staff set a program record with 581 strikeouts and rank No. 13 in the nation and third in ACC with 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings. Starting pitcher Brett Renfrow was named Second Team All-ACC, while pitchers Mathieu Curtis, Griffin Stieg and Andrew Sentlinger were all selected in the MLB Draft.
Before joining Virginia Tech, Fecteau spent one season as the pitching coach at Maryland in 2017. The Terrapins won 38 games and Fecteau's staff posted a 3.98 ERA, ranking second in the Big Ten with a 2.81 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 8.4 strikeouts per nine innings, while placing third in the conference and No. 22 in the country with 2.99 walks per nine innings. He developed Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Brian Shaffer, who was named Third Team All-America, along with Big Ten Freshman of the Year Tyler Blohm, who earned Freshman All-America accolades. In total four Maryland pitchers were selected in the MLB Draft that summer.
Prior to joining the staff at Maryland, Fecteau served as pitching coach under Steve Owens at Bryant from 2011-16 for the program's historic run of success in the NEC. The Bulldogs won five straight NEC regular season titles and made the NCAA Tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2016, while being ineligible for postseason play in 2011 and 2012 due to reclassification.
In 2016, Fecteau helped the Bulldogs to a program-record 47 wins and oversaw a pitching staff that led the NEC in ERA, hits allowed per nine, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts per nine innings, WHIP and walks allowed per nine. James Karinchak was named NEC Pitcher of the Year and an All-American by multiple outlets with a 12-3 record, 2.00 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 94.2 innings, setting program records in wins and strikeouts. During his tenure at Bryant, Fecteau saw seven pitchers selected in the MLB Draft.
Prior to joining the staff at Bryant, Fecteau spent a year each at St. Lawrence (2010), USC Upstate (2009) and Southern Utah (2008) as an assistant. His coaching career began as a graduate assistant at St. Lawrence from 2005-07.
Fecteau played collegiately at Division II Saint Anselm, where he led the team in wins (20), innings pitched (312.0) and strikeouts (254). He graduated Saint Anselm in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business and earned a master's degree in education from St. Lawrence in 2007.
Fecteau and his wife, Catherine, are the parents of three children: Kellan, Tessa and Elise.
