Eric Seremet joined the Rutgers lacrosse program in July of 2018 as an assistant coach. Formerly the head coach of Air Force for nine seasons, Seremet serves as the team’s offensive coordinator.
With Seremet on staff, the Scarlet Knights made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and earned victories in each postseason, advancing to the Final Four (2022) and Quarterfinals (2021) Seremet was named the Division I
Assistant Coach of the Year by the IMLCA in 2022.
In 2025, Colin Kurdyla was named All-Big Ten after pacing the team with 27 goals and 40 assists. JJ Aiello (11 goals, 13 assists), Colin Zeller (13 goals) and Haydn Sommer (six goals, 15 assist) were named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. The season was highlighted by a win over No. 2 Maryland, the highest ranked win in program history and the first win over the Terps since 1980.
In 2024, Seremet mentored two All-Americans on the offensive end in Shane Knobloch and Ross Scott. Knobloch was named the USILA's Midfielder of the Year, the first player in program history to earn the accolade, and became just the second player in program history to be named a four-time All-American. Once again, RU finished the season with the nation's best mark for fewest turnovers per game.
In 2023, Rutgers claimed eight wins and finished No. 15 in the RPI. Rutgers finished its season with an 8-6 record. The Scarlet Knights were nationally ranked for the entire season, peaking at No. 6. RU claimed four wins over NCAA Tournament teams, three wins over teams in the top-15 of the selection RPI, and their three ranked wins during the year included a win over then-No. 5 Loyola and overtime wins over rival Princeton and eventual Big Ten Tournament champion Michigan. Three players were named All-Conference and three players were named All-Americans. RU finished the season No.1 in the nation in turnovers per game.
In 2022, Rutgers had a historic season with the program's first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Final Four. The Scarlet Knights set a new program record with 15 wins, smashing the previous record of 11. RU downed a record six ranked foes during the season (No. 10 Army, No. 19 Loyola, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 14 Harvard and No. 3 Penn), while advancing to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game for the first time since 2016. Rutgers hosted an NCAA Tournament game for the first time since 2003 and defeated Harvard in front of 5,212 fans, the third largest crowd for an NCAA Tournament First Round game since 2003. RU then defeated No. 3 Penn in the NCAA Quarterfinals to match the highest ranked win in program history.
Despite the loss of their four top scorers from the previous season, Seremet's offense ranked in the top-ten nationally in scoring. Attackman Ross Scott scored 50 goals, tying the program's single-season record, and was joined by Mitch Bartolo 45 goals to give RU a pair of 40+ goalscorers for the first time in program history. Rutgers' had Seven All-Americans, with offensive players Scott, Shane Knobloch and Ronan Jacoby earning recognition.
In 2021, Rutgers went to the NCAA Tournament for the program's first NCAA appearance since 2004. The Scarlet Knights grabbed a 12-5 opening round victory over Lehigh that was RU's first NCAA win since 1990. RU had five ranked wins in the course of the season (No. 6 Penn State, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, No. 14 Ohio State and No. 10 Lehigh) in a historic campaign for the program. Rutgers had a vaunted trio of attackman, with Seremet guiding All-Americans Adam Charalambides (44 goals) and Connor Kirst (37 goals) alongside Kieran Mullins (28 goals, 23 assists). Shane Knobloch was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and joined fellow midfielder David Sprock as an All-American.
In Seremet's first season on the staff (2019), Rutgers won seven games, highlighted by a 14-6 victory at No. 4 Ohio State that tied for the program's highest ever ranked road victory. On the offensive end of the field, Seremet mentored attackmen Kieran Mullins and Adam Charalambides to exceptional seasons. Mullins (23 goals, 37 assists: 60 points) was named Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-Big Ten, while Charalambides (47 goals, 14 assists: 61 points) was named First Team All-Big Ten.
Following the season, Seremet served as an assistant coach for the Division I/II South Team in the 2019 USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game.
Seremet was on the Air Force coaching staff for 15 years, spending nine seasons as the head coach from 2009 to 2017. In that time as head coach, his record was 73-62. He was named the USILA Division I Coach of the Year in 2014 and the 2016 Southern Conference Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, the Falcons won three conference championships and made three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Seremet is also credited with guiding four Falcons (five times) to All-America status.
Seremet led the Falcons to double-digit victories three times in a four-year span. In 2017, he piloted Air Force to a 12-6 record. That campaign began with an upset victory over No. 10 Duke in the season opener and concluded with a SoCon Championship and NCAA Tournament bid for the third time in four years.
In 2016, Seremet led Air Force to the program’s longest ever winning streak (15 games) and the program’s highest ever national ranking (No. 8). That season the program finished 15-3, including an unbeaten 7-0 record in conference action.
Seremet earned national Coach of the Year honors in 2014 as he led the program to 11 wins, their highest win total since 1988. The team shared the regular season conference title, then went on to win the ECAC Tournament to earn the program’s first NCAA bid in 26 years. With a victory over Richmond in the NCAA play-in game, the squad captured its first NCAA tournament win in program history.
Seremet coached four Major League Lacrosse draftees at Air Force, the first ever draftees in program history. In 2014, Erik Smith (Boston Cannons) and Mike Crampton (Colorado Mammoth) were selected, while in 2016 Christopher Allen (Charlotte Hounds) and Alex Warden (Denver Outlaws) were picked.
Prior to being named the head coach, Seremet was an assistant coach at Air Force from 2002-2008. In that role, worked primarily with the offense, also assisting with recruiting and scouting.
Seremet, a native of Camillus, New York, and 1988 graduate of West Genesee High School, also spent a year as an assistant coach at Cornell University. There he helped the Big Red maintain a top-20 ranking throughout the 2001 season. Prior to his stint at Cornell, Seremet was the top assistant for four years at Stony Brook. While at Stony Brook, Seremet was involved in all aspects of the program, coaching both ends of the field. In 1998, he coached the top goaltender in Division I in save percentage, while the defense ranked third in goals against. Seremet also served as a graduate assistant coach at Dartmouth College during the 1993 season.
Seremet attended the University of North Carolina, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the lacrosse team. During his career, the Tar Heels won four ACC titles and advanced to the NCAA Final Four each season. Seremet also played on North Carolina's 1991 national championship team, which finished the season with a perfect 16-0 record. He graduated from North Carolina in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in industrial relations.
In addition to his collegiate experience as both a player and a coach, Seremet also brings eight years of professional playing experience to the table. Seremet began his professional career in 1993 with the Boston Blazers of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League. He competed in the National Lacrosse League for seven seasons, playing for the New York Saints from 1995-1999, earning team MVP honors in 1996. Seremet was also a member of the Syracuse Smash from 1999-2000 and the Colorado Mammoth in 2003.
