Baseball Rained Out at Columbia
Apr 26 | Baseball
NEW YORK - Rutgers baseball had its game at Columbia rained out Tuesday. The contest will not be made up.
The Scarlet Knights had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before persistent rain started to fall at Satow Stadium. Senior R.J. Devish (Beachwood, N.J.) led off the game being hit by a pitch and advanced on a passed ball. He then scored when junior Mike Carter (Bloomfield, N.J.) reached on error. A groundout moved Carter up, but a three-minute rain delay followed. Freshman Jawuan Harris (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) resumed his at bat after the short break, with Carter scoring on a wild pitch. However, more rain poured down to force the umpires to call off the action. Statistics from the inning will not count.
Rutgers (20-20) will next return to Bainton Field Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to host Villanova. BTN Plus and WRSU 88.7-FM will have the coverage. Click here for the midweek preview.
