SCOUTING RUTGERS
The Scarlet Knights, who have played 10-of-11 games on the road to start the season, are coming off a 12-3 Wednesday win at Iona. A balanced offensive attack put 26 runners on base through 13 hits, 12 walks and a hit by pitch. Sophomore Nick Matera drove in four runs to lead the production, while classmate Luke Bowerbank, junior Milo Freeman and senior Christian Campbell all picked up two RBIs. On the mound, Campbell struck out six in a three-inning start, with classmate Gaby Rosa following with four scoreless, one-hit innings of relief to earn the win. It was the longest outing on the mound for Rosa, who was a Freshman All-America selection in 2014, since 2015.
Offensively, RU has scored 65 runs through 11 games, the most since 2010 to start the season. Senior Mike Carter leads the team with a .460 on-base percentage and a .372 batting average, as he has reached base safely in the last 13 games dating back to last season. Matera owns a team-best .632 slugging percentage with a home run, but sophomore Jawuan Harris and senior Tom Marcinczyk have both blasted three long balls. Campbell paces the lineup with 10 RBIs so far.
Junior John O'Reilly will once again start the series opener, pitching 6.2 innings to earn the win last time out at Old Dominion. The right-hander is third in the Big Ten with 18.2 innings worked and is averaging 12.54 groundouts per nine innings. Sophomore Serafino Brito will follow in the rotation. He also logged 6.2 innings versus Old Dominion, allowing just three earned runs.
Out of the bullpen, fifth-year senior Max Herrmann earned a four-out save last weekend and holds 10 career saves, tied for ninth in program history. He struck out three in an inning against Iona last time out. Freshman Eric Reardon leads the staff with five appearances.

SCOUTING NORTH FLORIDA
A member of the Atlantic Sun, the Ospreys scored three runs to tie the game in the ninth and went on to win the Mayor's Cup in 12 innings Wednesday at crosstown rival Jacksonville. UNF previously swept Penn and comes into this weekend on a seven-game winning streak. Tanner Murphy ranks eighth in the nation with a .528 batting average, while also knocking in 14 runs. Left-hander Austin Drury will make the Friday start on the mound and has permitted just two earned runs over 12.1 innings this season. The team is hitting .296 overall and the staff owns a 3.30 ERA.
This weekend's series will be contested at Harmon Stadium, which is 325 down the lines, 365 to the alleys and 400 to center. The facility was built in 1988.
Smoke Lavel, who led the team to the 2015 Atlantic Sun championship, is in his seventh season as head coach. Click here for more on North Florida baseball.
THE SERIES
The Scarlet Knights and Ospreys have never met on the diamond. However, RU did make a trip to the area in 2014 to take on Jacksonville. The Scarlet Knights won both games of that series, as current volunteer assistant coach Lou Clemente homered in a 3-for-4 showing in the opener.

Rutgers will head south to Boca Raton, Florida, for a Tuesday midweek matchup against Florida Atlantic.
