PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior
Tevin Murray continued his consistency on the mound for Rutgers baseball (19-28, 8-11) with no earned runs permitted over seven innings, but received no run support in a 4-0 loss to Northwestern (23-23, 10-10) Saturday at Bainton Field. It was the first game of a doubleheader.

Murray has permitted just one earned run in his last six starts, lowering his Big Ten ERA to 0.61 this year. He scattered three hits and struck out five in the outing, making it 78 punchouts on the season to rank fifth in school history.

Mike Doherty went eight-plus scoreless innings to win for the Wildcats, permitting four hits. Sam Lawrence recorded the last three outs for his second save.

Junior
Kevin Welsh reached 3-of-4 time with a single, a double and a walk, while sophomore
Mike Nyisztor had a pair of singles. The Scarlet Knights stranded five runner on base, including two in the ninth.

Northwestern took advantage of an error in the fourth to score twice and added two insurance runs in the ninth.
